Diesel Mechanic Job Description

Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Location: Osakis, MN

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift: 8am to 4:30pm

Pay: $20-$32/hour based on experience

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and heavy-duty equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and other diesel-powered equipment.

  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical and electrical issues.

  • Conduct safety checks and ensure all repairs meet industry standards.

  • Maintain accurate service records and document repairs performed.

  • Order necessary parts and ensure inventory levels are maintained.

  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete repairs efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in diesel mechanics preferred.

  • Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician, or related role.

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

  • Experience with diagnostic tools and software.

  • Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.

  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environmental conditions.
