Global Technology Context

The Global Technology (GT) team at Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) is on a multi-year journey to modernize technical and digital products and platforms across all business lines. This role demands a visionary leader with a technical understanding of the range of marketing and sales platform technologies in solving complex business challenges. Proven success as a leader in recruiting, developing, and retaining technical talent on high performing teams is required. The incumbent is a proven thought leader, a consensus builder, and an integrator of people, processes, and technology.

Specific Job Summary

Based at the Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) Corporate Office in Orlando, FL, the Vice President (VP), Technical Platform Owner – Marketing & Sales plays a critical role in shaping the strategic vision, design, and development of the Marketing and Sales technical platform across the MVW Enterprise that will enable and enhance customer relationships and experiences translating platform requirements into value delivery in support of achieving strategic marketing and sales business objectives and key results (OKRs).

The role is responsible for creating business value by communicating the platform roadmap with key stakeholders while representing business stakeholders on the platform pods to ensure engineering teams are building capabilities and features of applications, e.g., Salesforce, TBD, TBD. Employs agile practices to translate, shape, and prioritize requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria. Accountable for setting, achieving and measuring progress towards platform pod OKRs. Owns platform assets throughout their product life cycles by ensuring platform features meet technical systems, security, data privacy, and architecture compliance standards and the implementation of governance, best practices, release management, and platform performance optimization.

Specific Expected Contributions

  • Defines, communicates with key stakeholders, and executesastrategic vision andplatform roadmap for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms and products, e.g., Salesforce, ensuring support of MVW’s long-term business objectives and in line with industry best practices.

  • Works closely with business leaders, platform and product managers, and other key stakeholders across the MVW Enterprise to definebusiness, digital, and technology requirements and translates into user stories & acceptance criteria.Accountable for setting, achieving, and measuring progress toward OKRs for the platform pods.

  • Actively participates in pod ceremonies; leads and optimizes the flow of value using agile tools and reporting. Facilitates release planning, sprint planning, and demos with stakeholders.

  • Oversees the design, development, and implementation of effective CRM platform and product application solutions, customizations, and integrations to meet business needs within established cost parameters.

  • Leads, coaches, and mentors a team of CRM digital and technology Salesforce engineers and developers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement based on data-driven decision making. Identifies trade-offs between short- & long-term advantages to the team's vision

  • Owns platform assets throughout their lifecycles to ensure effective product lifecycle management.

  • Introduces automation tools and standardizes production platforms to ensure scalability as technical products expand.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams within GT and with business functional teams in sales, marketing, and owner, member, and guest support with the goal of identifying opportunities for process improvement and system enhancements.

  • Ensures reliability, scalability, and security of the Salesforce platform, adhering to best practices and compliance standards.

  • Manages vendor relationships, including selection, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation.

  • Stays abreast of new Salesforce features and technologies, evaluating their applicability to business goals and leading the adoption of relevant innovations.

  • Drives change management initiatives to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and processes across the organization.

  • Develops and manages the Salesforce platform budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions that deliver value to the business.

  • Stays abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in the Salesforce platform ecosystem.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally, a professional position with specific knowledge and experience in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology) as well as associate management experience.  College degree and/or relevant experience typically required.

Specific Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree that is technology based in information technology,engineering, computer science, or statistical/math sciencesrequired.

  • Master’s degree, e.g., MBA or in Computer Science,preferred.

Certifications Preferred

  • Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator: This is an advanced level of the administrator certification, focusing on more complex Salesforce features and capabilities

  • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA): This is the pinnacle credential for Salesforce professionals, demonstrating the ability to design and build high-performance technical solutions on the Salesforce platform across all domains

  • Salesforce Certified Development Lifecycle and Deployment Architect: This certification focuses on the skills needed to manage the development and deployment lifecycle of Salesforce applications

  • Salesforce Certified Integration Architecture Designer: This certification is for those who design and implement integration solutions on the Salesforce platform

Experience

  • Extensive experience in the Salesforce ecosystem is crucial. Must have a deep understanding of Salesforce technical products, architecture, and best practices.

  • Proven ability to learn how a business operates while continuously building business acumen. Familiarity with financial analysis and associated reporting tools. Experience managing the budget process and being financially accountable for achieving results.

  • Proven experience driving organizational change and leading technology transformations via stakeholder engagement and vendor management.

  • Proven ability to apply advanced analytical, conceptual strategic planning, and execution skills to solve complex technical challenges, optimizing performance, and ensuring scalability.

  • Successful track record managing cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to achieve business outcomes.

  • Experience developing CRM systems and tools to enable products and their customers  

  • Experience gathering requirements and translating into a product/platform vision by leveragingexpertise in product and platform development, systems integrations, and engineering

  • Experience managing a product backlog/release plan, tracking team level metrics, attending platform team ceremonies, and removing blockers (burndown chart, release burn up, etc.)

  • Experience managing current and emerging Salesforce technologies and how to apply them to create new and enhance existing CRM digital business products. Knowledge of how full stack SaaS and PaaS products work and scale.

  • Progressive experience in release management and DevOps including overseeing deployment cycles, version control, and release processes.

  • Familiarity Agile methodologies and continuous integration.

  • Experience defining and leading large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience in a multi-national, matrix structured organization preferred.

  • Experience in Hotel Management, Vacation Ownership, or Hospitality preferred.
