Duties

Support global transmission projects performing design engineering and analysis on substation project work. Collect and assimilate data for engineering work. Perform complex research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards; develop recommendations for equipment and material selections. Understand and work successfully within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements. Perform complex engineering functions that require knowledge and experience in engineering principles. Build on experience by obtaining more depth knowledge in specific subject area with the expectation that assignments are larger and more complex or gain experience in more subject areas. Continue to learn and remain current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black and Veatch policies and procedures and apply to assigned tasks as appropriate. Support continuous improvement and change management efforts. Coordinate with other disciplines as assigned by supervisor or project leadership. Actively seek to understand client interests and drivers through normal client contact and through interaction and communication with project leadership. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities, knowledge sharing, innovation, and Technology. Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or related discipline, plus at least three years of related experience. Must have experience with Risa 3D, SAP2000 and BlueBeam. Must have experience using Project wise, Autocad (or MicroStation), and Hilti Profis. Must have experience with the latest edition of ASCE 7, ACI 318 and AISC Steel Manual. Must have experience in substation design, including the design of structural steel and reinforced concrete foundations and structures. Must have experience with structural anchorage design including cast in place anchors and post installed chemical and mechanical anchors. Must have experience working with utility clients. Must have experience developing deliverables and drawings based on calculations. Telecommuting is permitted within a reasonable commuting distance from the employer’s Orlando, FL Office location. Up to 10% regional travel may be required. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English.
