Position Summary

The Sr. Manager, Structured Cabling Projects is responsible for effectively managing various projects and tasks, including property assessments, planning, design, procurement, and construction management of Structured Cabling Solutions and Low Voltage Infrastructure. These projects support Telecommunications/Voice Systems, Data/Wireless Networks, Audio/Visual Systems, TV/GRE, Security Systems, and more for new resort development, developer portfolio capital, villa refurbishment, sales centers, and reserve projects for both developer-owned and COA-owned Capital Assets (Real Estate Fixed Assets) at each resort property. The role involves using technical expertise in estimating, scheduling, planning, design, procurement, cost, contract, and change order management, protocols, controls, procedures and processes.

The Senior Manager is accountable to the Project Lead for delivering Structured Cabling/Low Voltage projects on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with brand and technical standards. This includes developing and managing an overall project execution plan focused on problem avoidance, delivering cost-effective and predictable results, and marshalling appropriate resources to achieve MVW’s business goals and objectives. In addition to project supervision, monitoring, and reporting, this role will involve procuring smaller contractor and vendor packages through the standard competitive RFP and evaluation process.

Key responsibilities include handling all elements of structured cabling solutions and technology projects, such as estimating, requirements planning, budgeting and forecasting, procuring, scheduling, vendor engagement, progress reporting, technical testing, acceptance and certification, delivery, documentation, and presentations to leadership. The Senior Manager will work under limited supervision in the field, adhering to established guidelines and standards, and will provide regular status updates to the A&C Senior Project Manager, Director, or Senior Regional Director (Project Lead).

Additionally, this role involves consulting, engaging, and partnering with several critical intraorganizational departments, including Global Technology, Sales & Marketing, Resort Operations Technology, Resort Planning, and Field Operations Teams, at all necessary touchpoints throughout the project’s lifecycle.

Expected Contributions

  • Lead, plan, direct, track, and monitor all aspects of project delivery for technology and resort systems, ensuring compliance with brand and technical standards, and current RACI, Ball-in-Court, and Purchasing matrices.

  • Select vendors, manage vendor relationships, and oversee contract negotiations.

  • Host and attend regular project meetings, set parameters for task and milestone accomplishments, define project success/failure criteria, and establish vendor responsibilities within the project scope.

  • Interact with Project Directors, AVPs, and others to clarify scope and ensure project accuracy and completeness.

  • Coordinate with Development Accounting to obtain financial reviews of project commitments.

  • Provide routine project status updates, including completed and upcoming tasks, milestones, risks, and issues.

  • Ensure all contractors and vendors adhere to corporate safety protocols and brand standards.

  • Supervise daily project activities and report project controls to the Project Lead.

  • Establish and maintain contractor relationships.

  • Resolve day-to-day field construction issues on less complex matters with moderate risk.

  • Take responsibility for personal work and contribute to team, department, and business results; may direct the work of non-management staff.

  • Produce discipline-specific schedules to be incorporated into the master project timeline and monitor adherence to set timelines.

  • Liaise with interdepartmental business partners to ensure timely contractor and vendor appointments, mobilization, testing, commissioning, certification, and training before operations startup and guest occupancy.

  • Initiate, develop, and maintain consultant inspections, manage a working document log, and oversee inspections of all key resort facilities.

  • Build and maintain a regional contractor database, contributing to the national vendor/contractor database.

  • Manage change orders, ensure careful cost logging, and maintain a detailed change order log.

  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and supervise contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure full compliance with field, brand, and technical standards.

  • Establish and maintain project and short-term schedules.

  • Identify and establish resource requirements for project completion.

  • Maintain relationships with Owners, architects, subcontractors, and vendors.

  • Set up and maintain a regional contractor and vendor database.

  • Maintain general contract and subcontract documents, including AIA progress payment documentation.

  • Maintain quality assurance and control.

  • Follow installation best practices for system deployment.

  • Review shop drawings and specifications, provide field observation reports, respond to RFIs, and attend site construction meetings as directed.

  • Establish and monitor administrative procedures for the project.

  • Stay informed on requirements for insurance, safety, and associated compliances.

  • Ensure proper disbursement of vendor applications for payment and collection.

  • Keep the Project Lead informed on project progress and budget.

  • Perform other duties and take on additional responsibilities as required.

  • Assist in pre-construction activities for projects.

  • Conduct and document post-project reviews.

  • Manage self-perform/direct work on projects.

  • Complete and implement smaller cost data sheets/Bill of Quantities reconciliation against reserve budgets allocated by the Project Lead.

  • Provide input on best practices and lessons learned for developing and updating technology advancements and standards.

  • Produce and maintain detailed technical standards/modules aligned with Information Technology’s Brand and Operating Standards.

Candidate Profile

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in designing voice/data infrastructure, structured cabling solutions, system technologies, telecommunication equipment, audio-visual systems, and electronic security systems.

  • 6+ years of experience in the hospitality sector is preferred.

  • Experience working with Designers and Project Managers, with the ability to understand architectural/interior design drawings and supplier engineering drawings.

  • Previous experience working in a team and interacting with external customers.

  • Experience in resolving issues and prioritizing competing requests.

Skills/Attributes

  • Ability to manage multiple large projects (3-6) per year.

  • Thorough knowledge of construction costs, scheduling, estimating, and engineering principles and techniques, as well as accounting principles.

  • Familiarity with various construction methods and materials, their characteristics, installation procedures, and tolerances.

  • Highly skilled in using Microsoft business applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and the ability to learn other applications as needed.

  • Knowledge of Gantt Project software, such as Primavera or Microsoft Project.

  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to act professionally with all levels of management, both internally and externally.

  • Excellent time-management and prioritization skills.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, motivated, and disciplined.

  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision, and willingness to work overtime, nights, and weekends if required to ensure timely project completion.

  • Ability to travel to various locations, both domestically and internationally – approximately 50% of the time.
