Job Description:

The Quality Manager is responsible for establishing a culture of Quality and continuous improvement across the division’s sites in Orlando FL, and Hilton Head SC, and manages the overall Quality and e3 program. The manager will develop and execute Strategic Goal Deployment (SGD) at the Division level, is responsible for identifying and resolving issues, leading mitigation and conducting resolution activities via Kaizen events, GB / BB projects or by “Just Do Its” (JDI’s). The role will support the company’s quality objectives and contractual quality requirements in a team-based environment, adhering to program cost and delivery schedules and will act as the voice of the customer in dealings with the company.

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and drives a continuous improvement roadmap at the Division level

  • Facilitates, leads, and trains employees on e3 Continuous Improvement across the organization.

  • Champions change initiatives and drives innovation and process excellence through-out the entire business process.

  • Researches, develops, writes, implements and enforces procedures utilized by the Quality and Operations department to maintain consistency and compliance with corporate and divisional policies and goals.

  • Reviews and approves recommended changes and associated policies and procedures to ensure consistency with industry standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100) and the continuous improvement of process capability.

  • Implements and maintains inspection criteria and procedures for outgoing products to assure quality is within acceptable standards.

  • Manages the maintenance and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) and associated certifications.

  • Designs and implements quality control training programs for key personnel.

  • Ensures quality criteria are met in all aspects of the program life cycle.

  • Audits and reports on the effectiveness of procedures and practices with the aim of improving efficiency and process capability.

  • Supports in the role of Quality Engineer on an as needed basis.

  • Assists as customer contact for all quality requirements, planning, and support.

  • Administrates failure analysis activities on product and piece parts to ensure effective corrective actions are taken.

  • Manages department staff with respect to strategic and proactive hiring, performance management, disciplinary action and termination of employment practices. Identifies and provides coaching, mentoring and training to enhance employee professional development and value to the division.

    Qualifications:

  • B.A. degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5+ years of progressively more responsible positions, including management.

  • 5+ years of direct quality, reliability, and/or process engineering experience.

  • 5+ years experience with continuous process improvement techniques and tools such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 8D, etc.

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100.

  • 5+ years experience in managing quality issues, ISO/AS regulations and related activities both individually and in a team setting.

  • Must be a US Citizen and have the ability obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.

  • Must posess and maintain a valid drivers license.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of mixed mode, a high mix, and low volume manufacturing operation with aerospace and defense industry experience preferred.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

  • Strong sense of risk management and proactive attitude toward risk mitigation

  • Critical thinking and creative problem solving skills combined with sound judgment

  • Strong integrity, ethics and emotional control

  • Ability to positively interface with customers and corporate management

  • Able to effectively lead a Quality team in developing and implementing Quality policies and procedures, operational best practices, and continuous process improvement.

  • Strong interpersonal, conflict resolution and active listening skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Effective planning/organization, analytical and problem solving, and statistical/financial skills.

  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism and be tactful in communicating with employees and customers.

  • Ability to make well thought out and logical decisions.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to support business and customer needs.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint).
