NBC Universal Facilities – Sign Shop Technician in Orlando, Florida

JOB SUMMARY:

Maintains the signs and specific work orders including but not limited to: Computer Graphics, Painted Graphics, Installing & Removing, Scenic Painting, Engraving, and Fabrication. Handles daily trouble calls from the dispatcher, to do shop work on special projects as deemed necessary at the direction of the supervisor or lead.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate computer sign equipment to fabricate all types of signs as needed to maintain existing signs. This would include Cut Vinyl Graphics, Digitally Printed Graphics and patterns or masking for painted signs.

  • Perform specialized sign making duties as needed for theme signs. This could include Hand Painted, Gold Leaf, Fiberglass Repair, Mechanical & Carpentry work.

  • Install and remove signs as needed for renovation and new installations. This may require the use of a High Reach to access signs with mechanical and/or chemical fasteners. Setting sign post that will require the use of digging tools.

  • Layout and design of new signage for UO Operational needs special events, test marketing, safety issues, and emergency situations. This is typically done with the use of the computer equipment listed elsewhere in this description.

  • Gather and prepare necessary information, tools and items needed to complete assigned task.

  • Clean up work area; consists of picking up used tools, materials and documentation and then stores equipment and tools in designated storage areas.

  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    SCOPE:

Maintains the signs and specific work orders including but not limited to: Computer Graphics, Painted Graphics, Installing & Removing, Scenic Painting, Engraving, and Fabrication. Handles daily trouble calls from the dispatcher, to do shop work on special projects as deemed necessary at the direction of the supervisor or lead.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED is required.

  • Technical school or Art Institute preferred.

  • Associate’s degree (AA) is preferred.

    EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years experience using graphic arts programs such as Adobe CS, Corel Draw, Gerber Omega programs.

  • 1–3 years experience using sign making computer equipment such as vinyl cutting plotter, large format digital printers, laminators;

  • or equivalent combination of education and experience
