Job Title: Electronics Technician

Job Description

Our PLC Field Technician II is an advanced industrial electrical technician. The Field Technician II is becoming proficient in concepts of control systems and demonstrates the ability to efficiently support troubleshooting and commissioning with Integration Engineers at client sites and during project completions. This role requires travel to clients and independence in troubleshooting and commissioning tasks, specifically using PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Beckhoff. Ideal candidates are comfortable working in high-pressure situations and interact with both external and internal customers to support the efficient resolution of problems. Field Technician IIs must be able to work effectively with lead Integration Engineers and communicate efficiently with all project stakeholders to ensure the smooth completion of short- and long-term projects.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and commission PLC systems including Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Beckhoff.

  • Work independently and efficiently to resolve issues at client sites.

  • Support Integration Engineers during project completions.

  • Read electrical schematics, troubleshoot issues, and produce electrical prints in design.

  • Create control panels from electrical prints or schematics.

  • Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders.

  • Work in various environments such as airports, entertainment, or manufacturing spaces.

  • Perform basic PLC programming and assist in maintaining a functioning workspace.

  • Occasionally wire panels or perform other manufacturing tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting background .

  • Proficiency in reading and utilizing electrical schematics.

  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting.

  • At least 2 years of experience in the industrial automation or processing automation industries.

  • AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical proficiency.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to stay calm in high-pressure situations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or AS Degree with equivalent applied experience.

  • Clean driving record and required auto insurance liability coverage.

  • Ability to work non-standard hours (nights and weekends).

  • Ability to travel locally with little or no notice.

  • Pass initial and random drug screenings and both internal and TSA-level background checks.

  • Professional demeanor and appearance.

  • Experience troubleshooting and editing PLC Software (Studio or Logix 5000) or equivalent (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff).

Work Environment

The work environment for PLC Field Technician II includes airports, entertainment venues, manufacturing spaces, and our internal Panel Shop. Tasks range from basic PLC programming to maintaining the facility. The work environment can be hot, cold, and dirty, and physical requirements include ascending ladders, navigating obstacles, operating in low light, and maneuvering through confined spaces. The position involves working both day and night shifts and requires travel up to 85% of the time depending on the project.
