Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs diagnostic inpatient and outpatient EKG, Holter monitor, and cardiac stress test procedures in the routine, critical and emergency settings according to the standards set forth in departmental and hospital policy and procedure and within the scope of care.

Essential Functions:

• Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the operation, calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of all equipment utilized in diagnostic EKG, holter monitor pulmonary function and cardiac stress procedures according to policy and procedure, safety guidelines and Biomed.

• Acts as resource person for physicians, other departments, fellow staff members, patients and family members providing education and information regarding cardiopulmonary services.

• Demonstrates skills proficiency and knowledge of clinical application of all modalities performed.

• Demonstrates the ability to initiate EKG, SA EKG, holter monitoring and cardiac stress testing in compliance with departmental policy and procedure.

• Maintains complete, accurate and concise documentation as outlined in policy and procedure and including, but not limited to, physician notification of abnormal diagnostic values.

• Assures accurate documentation for charges of all services rendered.

• Recognizes and responds to priorities as outlined in policy and procedure.

• Recognizes, verifies, documents and implements physician’s orders as outlined in policy and procedure.

• Communicates to the following shift all information pertinent to the continuity of quality patient care.

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Graduate / GED required

• BLS Certification required

• EKG certification preferred

• 1+ years of experience
