Katmai Database Architect III - REMOTE in ORLANDO, Florida

SUMMARY

Responsible for contributing to the design and development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) systems in support of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to add value and positively impact various aspects of HUD's operations and initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support HUD’s strategic framework implementing AI solutions within the HUD agency through careful planning, collaboration, and adherence to HUD’s strategic frameworks.

  • Translate business requirements into databases, data warehouses, and data streams.

  • Create procedures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility.

  • Analyze, plan, and define data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data.

  • Immediate responsibilities will include enhancing and maintaining the existing system as well as design, requirements analysis, development, and documentation of new features.

  • Document AI solutions in pilot projects or small-scale implementations.

  • Participate in software daily scrums, peer reviews, design reviews, and demos, as applicable.

  • Collaborate and work effectively with engineers of different technical backgrounds, architects, and product managers.

  • Work closely with Developers and Data Scientists to develop comprehensive, easy-to-use databases.

  • may develop database solutions, configure information systems, analyze structural requirements for new software, migrate data from legacy systems, and design conceptual and logical data models.

  • Additional responsibilities may include defining security procedures.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Minimum six (6) years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience with design, development, enhancement, troubleshooting, and debugging of web applications.

  • Ability to implement common data management and reporting technologies, as well as the basics of columnar and NoSQL databases, data visualization, unstructured data, and predictive analytics.

  • Experience using programming languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, and Perl.

  • Experience with AI models, Java/J2EE applications in N-tier architecture.

  • Experience documenting AI solutions with existing IT infrastructure and systems within a private sector or government agency.

  • Experience using AI to automating repetitive tasks, improving decision-making processes, enhancing citizen services, or optimize resource allocation.

  • Has knowledge of a variety of modern software, AI and ML frameworks and the versatility to learn new tools.

  • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background check.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) experience is strongly preferred.

  • Self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and with various skill sets including other developers.

  • Organized and efficient with ability to document all stages of the database design/solutions.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, etc.).

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Job Requirements:

WORK SCHEDULE

Full-time. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

TRAVEL

Potential for travel. When required, employee will need to complete an MVR check.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 10%.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is expected to be remote; however, the company reserves the right to require onsite work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, and lifting weights up to 20 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for manipulation of keyboard and mouse. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS :

  • Pay is $130k - $150k per year.
