Intermountain Health Registered Nurse Lactation Consultant in Orem, Utah
Job Description:
Provide breast feeding education, consultation and counseling.
This position is for the outpatient lactation clinic at Orem Community Hospital.
Hours: 16 hours a week, so 2 days a week, 8 hrs shifts

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates breastfeeding management for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings by utilizing the nursing process. Provides holistic, evidence-based breastfeeding support and care from preconception to weaning for women and their families. Acts as advocate for breastfeeding as the child-feeding norm.
Provides support for patients, proactively suggests strategies for breastfeeding, and addresses patient issues and concerns.
Conducts prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates educational outcomes. Delivers appropriate education for patient and patient support/family.
Provides outpatient care, consultation and home visits for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties.
Acts as clinical expert/resource for staff on subjects related to lactation including the current standards of practice. Facilitates the development of policies which protect, promote, and support breastfeeding.
Participate in the development of educational programs and assess the educational needs of health care providers.
Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Requirements:
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice is required.
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP)
Certification by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC)
Must obtain Bachelor’s degree of Nursing within 5 years of hire.
Preferred:
Two years of recent maternal/child nursing experience is preferred

$39.99 - $59.18
