Description
Position Summary:This position is responsible for keeping material flow and available capacity coordinated and on target to meet customer demands. Responsibilities include establishing, implementing, and controlling the flow of work through respective work centers with the creation of effective production schedules, supervision of its attainment, and coordination with Procurement and Customer Service to increase our ability to meet our targets.
Essential Functions:- Establish a realistic and achievable production schedule considering available material and capacity, input from the production team, requested delivery dates from our customers and replenishment needs for your stocked manufactured materials. Continuously review capacity requirements and suggest resource moves in and out of your respective areas as appropriate to meet our goals through all work centers and to make the best use of manufacturing resources.- Implement the production schedules by reviewing the availability of material and capacity, releasing production orders and issuing component material, and constructing order packets containing the required documents at appropriate revisions for the order. Monitor the performance of your respective areas related to planned vs. actual activity and discuss any variations and necessary changes with the teams. Continuously review the plan against the demands and perform appropriate in-out rescheduling as needed.- Daily review the current situation such as open orders and their on-time status, capacity availability, inventory levels and usage of stocked manufactured materials, and workload at each work center. Ensure deliveries are generated on time for orders scheduled to ship each day and track the delays. Participate with tracking and reporting of performance metrics for operations teams and continuously look for improvements to increase efficiency, quality, and accuracy in all aspects of your work. Implement new solutions.- Assist in creating and continuously updating all related documents and Work Instructions to remain current. Participate with any additional reporting methods used to assist the groups in the planning process. Using sound judgement and knowledge of systems solve technical problems, analyze possible solutions, offer and promote changes for improvement and act as a resource to others.- Maintain strong lines of communication with the production team to review and understand the current situation and any changes required, the procurement team to understand delays and expedites that may require rescheduling of production orders, the customer service team to report issues meeting our delivery dates, and within production control to collectively work towards meeting department goals.- Performs other duties as assigned.
