The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for the full-time position of Associate Instructor in the Automotive Technology program at the Turney Center Industrial Complex, a correctional facility, in Only, TN.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. Associate Degree preferred. A comparable combination of education and related experience may be considered.

``` - Minimum three (3) years of full-time experience in the automotive mechanics field within the last five (5) years. - Must possess all required ASE certifications and/or accreditations for the field or the ability to become certified within six (6) calendar months. - Must possess computer skills. - Strong hands-on technical background in field of instruction. - Must possess a high degree of knowledge in all areas of the automotive mechanic field.

SKILLS

  • Must be willing to work in a correctional facility.
  • Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
  • Must show evidence of good character and mature attitude.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.

GENERAL DUTIES

:

The Automotive Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for instructing incarcerated individuals inside a correctional facility in order to prepare them to re-enter the job market in the automotive technology field.

The Associate Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual students progress; maintain appropriate documentation of student progress; submit timely reports; and maintain close communication with correctional personnel and TCAT Dickson administration. This position provides theory and hands-on skills instruction. Areas of instruction include training in the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) certified program and the eight areas of ASE certification: engine repair, transmissions and transaxles, manual drive train and axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical and electronic systems, climate control, and engine performance. This position is full-time and reports to the Turney Center Program Coordinator. Applicants selected for an interview will be required to tour the Turney Center facility. Scheduled work hours are Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Anticipated start date for the position is Fall 2024.

SALARY

:

$51,646-$61,976 annual salary ($26.49-$31.78 per hour). Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
