Quality Assurance Specialist

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain a schedule and conduct quarterly internal audits of all programs to monitor effectiveness of compliance plan as assigned.

a. Regular audits using adapted Arc NY Tools

b. Monthly checks of data documentation and monthly summaries.

c. Monthly checks of current program plans for compliance on due dates, ie LifePlans, Staff Action Plans, Behavior Plans, etc.

  1. Complete written reports regularly on the progress with internal audits.

  2. Complete follow up audits on documentation provided for Plans of Corrective Action (POCA) on internal audits.

  3. Report any concerns on findings immediately so that a review for correction can be identified.

  4. Attend the investigator training course, annual refreshers and all other investigative trainings held by OPWDD and The Justice Center.

  5. Investigate and write reports on incidents alone or with another investigator as needed.

  6. Communicate questions, concerns or feedback to the appropriate supervisor or director.

  7. Adhere to all agency policies, mission, values, with a particular emphasis on providing the supports desired by each person served to achieve the life he/she wants and the agency Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct.

  8. Perform other related duties as required by the agency executive leadership.

  9. Required to drive from work site to various other sites within the community including but not limited to Residential Services homes, other agency sites, etc.

  10. This position requires a two week notice of voluntary resignation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree preferred. High School Diploma or GED AND at least three years of relative ID/D experience, or a combination or education and experience that in the opinion of the hiring manger can successfully complete the essential functions of this position; familiarity with Microsoft Office.

REASONING SKILLS

The ability to work independently in multiple settings. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports/correspondence and good communication and writing skills.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be knowledgeable about Internet software, Microsoft Office components including Word, Office, Excel, and PowerPoint. Becomes knowledgeable and trained in the use of Therap for event reporting and ongoing communication.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid NYS driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Successful completion of all required agency training.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated ability to work with employees regarding confidential information and maintain sensitive data is required.

· Physically able to bend/stoop, squat, push/pull, reach above/below shoulder level.

· Located in a busy, open area meeting people on a regular basis.

· May be exposed to various work environments including but not limited to manufacturing, residential homes, outdoor climates, etc.

· Moderate noise: 95% of work is performed indoors, 5% outdoors.

· Works with office equipment.
