Summary:

The Environmental Justice Program Coordinator position develops and leads initiatives focused on environmental justice, including application of regulatory requirements and risk management principals. This role will work closely with both the Sustainability and Environmental Affairs and Public Affairs business units to find opportunities to further the work of environmental justice principals and best practices in project management and environmental compliance.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Review and analyze demographic and environmental regulatory data to implement an environmental justice program and align with the company's mission and values.

• Work with OPPD¿s Public Affairs Business Unit to develop engagement efforts that ensure the voices of marginalized and vulnerable communities are heard and integrated into decision- making processes.

• Collaborate with internal teams to assess and mitigate the environmental and social impacts of our operations and projects, with a focus on the community benefits provided by OPPD.

• Conduct research and analysis on environmental justice issues, trends, and best practices to inform program development and decision-making.

• Provide Environmental Justice regulatory expertise to ensure District operations comply with all relevant local, state, and federal requirements.

• Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to advance environmental justice goals and objectives.

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of environmental justice programs and initiatives and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

  Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor¿s degree in environmental studies, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field.

• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience.

• Strong understanding of environmental justice principles, concepts, and issues.

• Knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and procedures, particularly as they relate to environmental justice.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

• Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Desired:

• Master¿s degree in environmental policy, Environmental Justice, or a related field.

• Experience working with low-income, minority, and/or indigenous communities on environmental justice issues.

• Familiarity with GIS mapping and data analysis tools.

• Experience with human health risk assessment criteria.

  Work will be performed both in a modern office environment amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, and noises.

  Physical Demands:

  Must have the ability to: work on multiple tasks at one time; work under stressful situations; operate a computer and other office equipment; move about the Company and interact with all levels of the Company. Additional physical requirements include but are not limited to the following: sitting at a desk for more than one hour at a time; keyboarding; driving and the ability to see information in print and/or electronically.

  Time Demands:

This role is considered a ¿non-essential¿ role; however, this role may be required to report to work to support the restoration of normal business operations.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance in alignment with Departmental policy.

Must maintain 24-hour availability for technical and professional assistance, emergency response, and directing remedial action in response to such emergencies, as well as maintain availability as required for on call duty.
