Position Overview

The Cloud Architect plays a pivotal role in Kiewit Technology Groups’ ongoing digital transformation. They are responsible for envisioning, creating and continually improving the cloud platform foundations that our teams build upon. Cloud Architects work closely with development and operations teams to create and evolve the architecture patterns that leverage IaaS/PaaS features of the cloud and manage the deployment of cloud-native apps and the continuous delivery pipelines that support them. A successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of our IT landscape, ensuring that all technical aspects align with Kiewit strategic goals.

Location

This position is onsite M - F at our NEW office located at 12312 Port Grace Blvd, La Vista, NE 68128. It does not offer relocation or remote work.

Responsibilities

•Experience on cloud hyper-scalers AWS/Azure/GCP/SAP cloud services providers with a focus on Azure.

•Help maintain the vision and roadmap for Kiewit’s cloud platform and cloud solutions.

•Provide forward-thinking technology leadership in developing innovative solutions with a strong emphasis on continual improvement in automating our infrastructure and software release processes.

•Provide governance for our Cloud IaaS and PaaS environments including security, cost, and adherence to Kiewit standards.

•Stay current with cloud technology and trends and optimize our cloud infrastructure for Kiewit’s evolving needs.

•Help design standards and operational policies for disaster recovery and/or comprehensive redundancy for Cloud resources

•Perform Proof of Concepts on Cloud technology for new technology tools across various domains including Databases, AI/ML, SAP, Middleware, and SaaS solutions to be included in Kiewit Technology landscape.

•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

•Educate Solution Architects and Data Center Operations on the creation, approved uses and support of cloud resources.

•Facilitate proper integration between custom-built applications and purchased software

•Mentor technology team members in best practices, technical options, and expediting technical solutions.

•Ability to lead, influence, and motivate the organization to achieve results focused in could services space.

•Document and communicate complex concepts simply and effectively to a diverse group of stakeholders.

Qualifications

•5+ years of software development experience, preferably including .NET and Python. Experience in designing, building, and maintaining cloud-native applications.

•2+ years of experience with release automation tools such as Visual Studio Team Services, Azure Devops, Azure Automation, and related tools and Azure Resource Manager Templates.

•3+ years’ experience designing, developing, implementing, and operating cloud infrastructure environments of significant complexity in one of the three major cloud providers: Azure, AWS or GCP.

•Familiarity with Agile development principles

•Previous experience developing technology roadmaps that align with business goals and initiatives.

•Proven ability to develop great relationships with co-workers, credibility with leadership, and rapport with stakeholders.

•Experience selecting technology solutions that meet requirements, are cost-conscious, and align with business technology goals and roadmaps.

•Ability to set technical direction for a project or application

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

•Excellent problem-solving skills
