Position Information Position Title Writing Faculty in Tacoma Coordinated Studies, Tenure-Track Faculty Member Job Summary Position Highlights This position is responsible for preparing and teaching courses in writing. These may include introduction to research, advanced research, English composition, argument and persuasion, and writing about literature. The role of this faculty member will be to improve the writing of adult learners, some of whose first language may not English. Essential Functions Prepare, teach, and assess outcomes in assigned courses in accordance with college standards. Plan, teach and assess curriculum in tandem with co-teachers in our interdisciplinary program. Assess student learning and use data to improve teaching and learning. Work collaboratively with faculty to assess and reassess student learning in our theme-based curriculum. Maintain current knowledge in the field of composition and effective Evergreen based pedagogy. Perform related duties as assigned. Additional Duties. The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate Ability to integrate non-traditional delivery methods, as appropriate, to instruct students of varying backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles. Competence to teach a variety of courses and to review and develop curriculum. Effective classroom management skills, including the ability to facilitate and navigate challenging conversations related to differing points of view. Ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment. Commitment to ensuring equitable access within the learning environment. Commitment to and respect for diverse views and opinions in the classroom and in the workplace. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
