Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Olive Branch, Mississippi

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in Olive Branch, Mississippi, United States. This role is primarily involved in the construction industry, with a focus on accounting functions such as reconciliations, multi-state sales tax compliance, payroll management, and financial processes operation using the Acumatica ERP system.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee bank accounts, credit cards, and other accounts to perform accurate and prompt reconciliations for precise financial reporting.

• Handle all payroll functions and ensure compliance, including managing payroll for prevailing wage jobs, adherence with the Davis-Bacon Act, and certified payrolls' timely submission.

• Administer all facets of multi-state sales tax, including preparation, filing, and monitoring compliance to meet state requirements.

• Verify the accuracy and integrity of payroll data by ensuring compliance with Federal Prevailing Wages for construction projects.

• Process and review AIA pay applications, making sure of proper documentation, approvals, and alignment with contract terms.

• Manage monthly construction billing, including progress billing, lien waivers, and schedules of values preparation.

• Utilize Acumatica ERP software for financial data processing, report generation, and efficient ERP system usage.

• Supervise month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and adjustments, to deliver timely and accurate financial statements.

• Support job costing efforts in line with project budgets and forecasts, thereby improving project profitability and financial insights.

• Work closely with internal departments to streamline processes, enhance accounting workflows, and resolve issues effectively.

• Prepare and present detailed financial data and analyses to leadership, aiding informed strategic decisions.

• Keep up-to-date with industry best practices, tax regulation changes, and other relevant compliance requirements within the construction industry. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA license or progress toward certification preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or contracting industry.

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation is required.

• Familiarity with Balance Sheet Reconciliation is essential.

• Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations is necessary.

• Must possess in-depth knowledge of General Ledger management.

• Experience in preparing and managing Journal Entries is required.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary.

• Must be capable of performing Month End Close operations.

• Experience in using Acumatica for accounting purposes is preferred.

• Ability to handle Multi-state Tax matters is necessary.

• Familiarity with Tax - Multi-state is required.

• Knowledge of AIA Billing is advantageous.

• Experience in Construction Accounting is preferred.

• Prior experience in managing Construction Projects - Accounting is a plus.
