Provide education opportunities through distance learning and on-line student learning that support component schools in the delivery of quality education and provide educational opportunities that would otherwise be unavailable. Mentor students and monitor progress of students on a regular schedule as students take online and credit recovery courses. Teach and develop an online class for students in varying districts within teacher certification area.The County Government Intern Program is an educational initiative designed for high school juniors and seniors to deepen their understanding of local government operations. The teacher will design learning experiences over the course of a semester, creating opportunities for students to meet weekly with legislators, department heads, and varius committee members, gaining firsthand experience and insight into the functions of county government. The Fall semester will begin in Cattaraugus County and the Spring semester in Allegany County.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Student Support and Data Tracking 1.Register students for courses and provide overview for these courses and platforms.2.Coordinate and supervise students enrolled in courses.3.Track student progress, provide appropriate feedback, and maintain records of pupils’ progress and development including assessment. Track student status and activity regarding course interaction.4.Meet and communicate with students and district staff on a regular basis.5.Alert providers of online content to special needs of students on IEPs and 504. Support to Program Manager 6.Support Program Manager services as a liaison between districts, students, and vendors.7.Evaluate courses and vendor support.Provide Course Instruction8.Create online courses in Moodle and provide instruction in certification area.9.Ensure flexibility in the course to ensure that required topics are covered and aligned to the NYS standards while keeping in mind pacing and a variety of learning experiences.10.Develop the appropriate assessment measures to adequately gauge student learning progress.11.Maintain awareness of new information related to specific subjects being taught.Staff Development 12.Stay current with local, regional, statewide, and national curriculum and topics as appropriate to the position.13.Maintain strong understanding of development in NYSED regulations for online learning.14.Research, identify, and develop the best practices of various pedagogy models.15.Perform other tasks as may be assigned.TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 month position, with potential for up to 10 summer work days paid at per diem rateEVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy and CA BOCES teacher contract.
