I. Job Summary
In partnership with Group and Area leadership, responsible for delivering industry leading maintenance performance and asset utilization. Responsible for delivering excellence in cost, equipment availability, asset utilization, shop productivity management and performance improvements and fleet compliance. Works with Group and Area Leadership to implement WM Fleet strategy, WM standard processes and best-in-class supplier relationships.
Travel: 30-50%
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Implement long-term plans into day-to-day operations.
Implement planning activities to optimize ROI through effective training and utilization of people and assets.
Implement maintenance action plans that utilize cost drivers of the business and performance metrics to effect change.
Implement key processes to effectively drive profitability.
Implement shop performance improvements.
Monitor the effectiveness of relevant company programs by tracking and offering timely feedback to improve performance.
Execute corporate strategies and policies.
Manage maintenance managers to ensure performance and cost focus across the MA.
Conduct equipment fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
Coach, mentor and technicians while overseeing operations of maintenance shops as needed.
Ensure maintenance shops are adequately staffed and mechanics are properly trained.
Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation.
Ensure equipment management systems are effectively utilized.
Comply and ensure adherence to WM’s Mission to Zero standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion.
Assist in budget process as required.
Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
Prepare and conduct all interviews for management positions and follow hiring procedures according to WM hiring policies. Ensure that all current maintenance mangers are also in compliance with the WM standards in their interviewing and hiring procedures for staff positions.
Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline managers according to WM’s policies and procedures and ensure that maintenance managers follow the standards in their administration of counseling and disciplinary steps.
Conduct and/or attend and contribute to periodic operator/safety meetings to maintain favorable working relationships among all employees and promote maximum morale, productivity, and efficiency.
Provide training and presentations as needed in a positive and professional manner.
Ensure that all employees receive fair and equitable treatment.
Maintain open door policy.
Update and submit required reports in a timely manner.
Approach all encounters with employees, customers, and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
Other special projects and tasks as assigned.
Create AFE’s for equipment purchases.
Work with Group HE manager on surplus equipment disposition.
Work with ADO & Group HE manager on equipment transfers.
Hold weekly calls with SR. Manager of Fleet Maintenance.
Maintain working knowledge of all BU’s maintenance activities.
III. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. Must live and work in the U.S.
Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree preferred High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant work experience required.
Experience: 5 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirements) required.
Preferred Experience: Prior experience supporting customers in an in-plant environment (industrial and manufacturing).
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
TWIC card or the ability to obtain one prior to starting
Clean motor vehicle record.
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of starting.
RCRA and DOT regulatory compliance experience required.
Pre-assignment and/or pre-hire customer-specific drug and/or alcohol testing may be required by certain customer-contract requirements. Such testing may include urinalysis, oral swab, drug hair follicle testing and/or alcohol testing.
The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $92,400 - $113,000 . This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
