The Avionics Lead is responsible to his or her respective department supervisor for all functions assigned to provide airworthiness of the aircraft upon completion of maintenance at the facility. A Lead Technician is required to be a certified A&P Technician or hold a Repairman Certificate, an FCC certificate, or a Radio Repairman Operator certificate as applicable to the work they are supervising.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Being available for consultation on matters relating to work being accomplished on his or her assigned aircraft.

  • Ensuring all required paperwork is satisfactorily completed and signed and complies with all existing regulations and procedures.

  • Ensuring all equipment is properly used and adequate safeguards are in place to protect the customers aircraft and equipment.

  • Monitoring and reporting to supervisors the work of personnel under his or her responsibility for proper work performance, productivity, quality and personnel safety.

  • Assisting supervisors as requested in reviewing personnel for job qualifications and status and for maximizing manpower.

  • Performing on the job training for personnel.

  • Providing guidance and technical advice to assigned technicians.

  • Coordinating with other appropriate departments to organize and control the customers work package and any special considerations.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability required.

EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree AA or equivalent from two year college or technical school or four years related experience and/or

  • Training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must possess a current and active FAA airframe and powerplant (A&P) certificates , an FCC certificate, or a Radio Repairman Operator certificate as applicable to the work they are overseeing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Constantly: Lifting 10 lbs., standing, walking, wrist flexion and extension, environmental weather conditions.

  • Frequently: Lifting ≤40 lbs., push/pull <20 lbs., climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, squatting, crawling, kneeling for extended periods, working in confined spaces. Working above chest-level, overhead, and away from body for extended periods. Bending, twisting of torso, twisting and/or pressure with wrist/hands, fine finger usage, moderate vibrations up to 2 hrs. to high vibrations up to 30 mins. Vision with/without correction; near <20”, far >20’, and basic depth perception (shapes). Working at elevated heights ≥4’, working on ladders, scaffolding, uneven surfaces, and energized parts.

  • Occasionally: Lifting and/or carry ≤50 lbs., sitting, basic color vision, operation of motorized or electrical equipment, push/pull <50 lbs., work in wet conditions.
