Cable Technician Job Description

Job Summary:

A Cable Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing cable television, internet, and telephone systems for residential and commercial customers. They ensure proper signal transmission, troubleshoot issues, and provide excellent customer service while adhering to safety and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair cable TV, internet, and phone services.

• Set up and configure modems, routers, and other networking equipment.

• Run and terminate coaxial and fiber-optic cables in homes and businesses.

• Test and troubleshoot signal strength and connectivity issues.

• Educate customers on using their cable and internet services.

• Perform routine maintenance on cable systems and equipment.

• Work with power tools and testing devices to ensure quality installations.

• Follow company guidelines, safety protocols, and industry regulations.

• Keep accurate records of work completed and materials used.

  Requirements

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications are a plus.

• Previous experience in cable installation or a related field preferred.

• Knowledge of networking, signal transmission, and cabling techniques.

• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.

• Strong problem-solving and customer service skills.

• Ability to lift heavy equipment and tools as needed.

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Work Environment:

• Field-based work, requiring travel to customer locations.

• Exposure to outdoor elements and physical labor.

• May require evening, weekend, or on-call shifts.
