GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the VAC Director and the general direction of the Executive Director, oversee the Sexual Assault Program functions to ensure sexual assault victims have access to emergency crisis intervention and support services including advocacy, legal services, and shelter. Assist in the development of community awareness and partnerships for sexual assault victim advocacy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish partnerships with local law enforcement agencies and statewide rape programs.
  • Represent YCC on local Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), acting in a leadership role.
  • Coordinate and conduct annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month Activities.
  • Work with CRT coordinator to develop, coordinate, and conduct regular advocate trainings.
  • Create and distribute culturally relevant information regarding sexual assault.
  • Provide speaking engagements to the community.
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual reports.
  • Provide crisis intervention advocacy for victims of sexual assault.
  • Assess client needs and refer clients to therapy as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records on all clients and enter them into the client database in a timely manner.
  • Assist victims with Crime Victims Reparation forms.
  • Co-facilitate weekly support groups for rape and sexual assault victims.
  • Provide court advocacy when required.
  • Participate in rotating, on-call 24-hour crisis intervention, respond on-scene if needed as back up to the Crisis Response Team and rape crisis line.
  • Provide advocate victim intake folders, clothes for victims, and information and referral.
  • Prepare and coordinate rape volunteer advocate and staff advocate calendars monthly in order to ensure on-call, 24-hour crisis intervention.
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteer advocates.
  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct annual advocate training.
  • Attend YCC monthly all-staff meetings, VAC weekly meetings/trainings, and other relevant meetings.
  • Complete 24-hour domestic violence core training and 40-hour rape advocacy training.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures stated in the Employee Handbook and any applicable Policy and Procedure Manual.

  • Perform other functions as necessary or as assigned.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Social Work, Social Sciences, or Industry-related field. Social Service Worker License is highly recommended. An equivalent combination of practical and academic experience may be substituted.
  • Requires 3-5 years of experience working with individuals and families in crisis, or any combination of education, experience, and training that pr ovides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must have an understanding of sexual assault and domestic violence issues, knowl dge of community resources, and the ability to facilitate support groups.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship-building and employee coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy including MS Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point.
  • Exceptional time-management, planning, and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrate a high level of diplomacy, sound judgment, and discretion when dealing with clients and other department staff.
  • High degree of energy, self-motivation, and flexibility with work schedule.
  • Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness.
