The Student Assistant will work in a team environment with Special Collections and University Archives (SCUA). They will be given the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge of current technology and best practices as related to the archives field. This student should be interested in handling unique historical documents and/or working with imaging software and technology.As a project assistant,this individual will be given the opportunity to work with unique historical collections in one or more of the following ways:Scan documents,photographs,negativesTranscribe and edit oral historiesTranscribe handwritten documentsUpdate documents and databasesCreate descriptive data (metadata) for archival materialsOrganize and describe archival materialsDigitize audio/visual formatsHelp organize storage spacesProvide reference and research assistance to patronsOther duties as assignedThe successful candidate will be self-motivated and willing to assist with other programs and activities taking place in the department. This is a 50/50 eligible position that requires applicants to be current,full time,Weber State University students with at least a 2.0 GPA.Work Schedule: Part-time,Monday-Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm flexible around class schedule.
