SERVICE EXPERTS LLC Equipment Mechanic II in OGDEN, Utah

OVERVIEW :

Under the general supervision of the Garage Lead Equipment Mechanic, performs semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair work on automotive, light, medium, and heavy equipment.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES :

(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class.)

Works under limited supervision and selects from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.

Responds to telephone and radio requests for emergency mechanical repair of department equipment in the field.

Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services, including Weber County, I/M testing and Utah State Safety Inspection for Commercial vehicles.

Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.

Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate repairs.

Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts.

Performs all work within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).

Performs s ervice calls for emergency breakdowns.

Conducts safety checks on vehicles.

Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.

Assists other Mechanics in the completion of project work.

Reviews, completes or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.

Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT YOU :

Education: High school graduation or equivalent.

Experience: Four (4) years of related experience. Have at least four (4) ASE certifications OR the ability to obtain four (4) or more ASE certifications within six (6) months of hire.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge: Considerable knowledge of the design, adjustment, operation, maintenance, and repair of diversified mechanical and electrical equipment, including light, medium, and heavy gasoline and diesel engines; considerable knowledge of the materials and tools used in equipment repair maintenance. Understanding and knowledge of safety standards and equipment related to materials and equipment, including OSHA and MSDS.

Skills: Skilled in operation of motorized vehicles for mechanical testing purposes, power/hand tools, welding, and equipment for vehicle and mechanical system work; mechanic's tools including jacks, hydraulic lifts, air tools, and other tools r equired for minor repairs and routine maintenance of motorized vehicles; electronic vehicle diagnostic equipment; computer skills adequate to perform necessary data entry and reports associated with the Fleet Management computer programs and system, calculator, phone, mobile or portable radio.

Abilities: Ability to diagnose complex and non-routine mechanical and electrical defects and determine parts and adjustments necessary to repair equipment; ability to ensure compliance with and follow standard safety practices and procedures common to equipment maintenance work; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to keep accurate and complete records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.

YOUR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS :

Must possess or be able to possess a valid Utah Class B CDL license and have a good driving record.

Must be able to be on call 24 hours per day.

Must be willing to comply with the Weber County Flee policy.

Applicants who are selected for employment with Weber County will be required to submit an up-to-date copy of their Motor Vehicle Record from the Utah State License Division prior to starting work.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment background check prior to starting the position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy.
