Kelly Services Fabrication Department Supervisor in O'Fallon, Missouri

Job Title: Fabrication Department Supervisor

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Production Manager

Objective:

Plan, organize, and control the fabrication department to ensure goods are produced efficiently, on time, and to quality standards. Provide hands-on leadership to production staff and train new employees. Responsibilities:

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of quality requirements, including logs, inspections, methods, inspection tools, identification, procedures, and continuous improvement.

  • Promote strong, positive morale within the department.

  • Perform in-process inspections of other’s work in the department as needed.

  • Support work schedules to ensure jobs are completed, manage ongoing and new jobs, and confirm manpower assignments.

  • Identify poorly performing jobs and assist with action plans to resolve issues.

  • Monitor the progress and performance of team members to ensure job productivity.

  • Support and maintain safety practices in compliance with company/regulatory policies.

  • Coordinate activities of all jobs to avoid undue delays.

  • Ensure materials and resources are staged and ready when needed in each cell.

  • Enforce company policies and procedures to provide a positive work environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Maintain a strong knowledge of all equipment and processes used in the department and use this knowledge to improve overall productivity (including MIG, TIG, plasma cutting, tube bending, plate rolling, shearing, bending).

  • Support process equipment training efforts.

  • Physically perform the functions of the job, including stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing for sustained periods, walking, and lifting medium work (exerting between 10 to 35 pounds of force regularly).

  • Communicate, provide, and understand instructions in written or oral form.

  • Perform shop math.

  • Solve practical problems and handle variables in situations.

  • Use Microsoft Office and Excel; Epicor experience is a plus.

  • Visual acuity to perform activities such as operating a machine where the job is at or within arm’s reach.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of welding experience in a supervisory or lead role.

  • High school diploma and technical training in the related field.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Lead a team of up to 20 direct reports, including machinists and waterjet operators. Work Location:

Production environment with 100% of the time expected to be worked on-site. Travel:

Travel is not a recurring condition of this position. Environmental Conditions:

  • The facility is not climate controlled.

  • Protection from weather conditions is provided, but not necessarily from temperature changes.

  • Workers are subject to extreme temperature changes (above 100 degrees in the summer and at or below 32 degrees in the winter).

  • Exposure to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, and poor ventilation.

Pay Rate $80k Salary
