Each supervisor (4) will be responsible for a different Region across the Oncor service territory. The specific Regions will be discussed during the interview process.

Summary
This position is responsible for directing the operation and maintenance of Technology and Telecommunications systems including all associated equipment, processes and resources (e.g. fiber optics, microwave, two-way radio, Advanced Metering System (AMS), Distribution Automation (DA), MPLS network, etc.). This role ensures Telecom personal are prepared for timely response to emergencies and operational issues, directs project work associated to Telecom initiatives and ensures a safe working environment for day to day Telecom operations. . This position also supervises activities for Technicians, Stores personnel, and Contractors. Some key objectives of this role are to facilitate the performance and tracking of maintenance activities, enable data analysis around network and telecom system performance, contribute to strategy development, and ensure appropriate management and regulatory reporting across the Smart Grid Telecom capability. This position assigns and directs the activities of field personnel in all aspects of construction, maintenance, and operations to ensure a safe, reliable and efficient delivery of services for communication needs across Oncor.
Key Roles & Responsibilities Other duties may be assigned. Directly or through others, the incumbent:
Directs the efforts of technical experts and support personnel in the development, maintenance and operations of various telecommunication systems and processes
Provides technical oversight and support for various telecommunication systems and tools and provides the necessary direction for field technicians who directly support those systems
Interfaces effectively and works in partnership with various individuals throughout the Transmission, Distribution, Technology, Measurement and Customer organizations for collaboration around communication needs across Oncor
Oversees the development, implementation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and recommend changes to various field network solutions
Keeps abreast of technology changes, evaluates and recommends network components, and develops documentation and installation standards for these components
Ensures team participation in and directly manages both project and maintenance work related to the implementation of new and troubleshooting of existing telecommunication systems
Works with vendors and service providers in order to assist in the diagnosis and resolution of escalated network problems
Establishes protocols, procedures, metrics and reporting capabilities in support of efficient and effective field operations
Manages Technology and Telecom projects efficiently and ensures that projects are completed in a timely manner in order to control costs, resources and scope
Assists in coordinating and implementing emergency service restoration procedures for Technology, Telecom and Smart Grid Communications while following approved change management procedures
Provides the leadership required to maintain proper working relationships with subordinates to ensure the flow of information necessary to meet employee needs
Ensures that safety meetings are conducted regularly in order to inform employees of the requirements of Company safety standards and to promote safe work practices
Promotes Company policies and benefits and keep employees informed about Company activities that are of interest to them and the public
Provides for training and job related experience in support of employee growth and development
Performs routine performance management check-ins and oversees the performance of general functions required to effectively perform the duties of the Telecom Technician role
Ensures that all equipment and vehicles are properly maintained
Facilitates the on call Telecom technician schedule – the transport network is a 24x7 operation and all personnel will be on call in the event of a problem
Performs other duties as required
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Prefer technical or advanced degree – Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in EET, Technology, Engineering, Management or other related field
Experience:
- Four years related experience with degree or six years of related work experience
Skills:
General knowledge of telecommunications network design and architecture, various telecom / network equipment technologies, standards and regulatory requirements, and general technology system and process knowledge
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Internet/Intranet applications
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Demonstrated ability to effectively direct, prioritize and work in a fast-paced, changing environment
Knowledge of Company policies and procedures and the ability to provide input and feedback to employees via the performance management process
