Transport Engineer Spec II:Performs advanced and specialized drafting, calculations and design work; performs field work; uses automated systems; learns specialized techniques; trains and reviews the work of others. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Transport Engineer Spec III:Performs advanced and specialized drafting, calculations and design work; performs field work; uses automated systems; learns specialized techniques; trains and reviews the work of others; others. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. May serve as lead worker. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Transport Engineer Spec IV:Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or advanced building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. May serve as lead worker. Employees are virtually self-supervising and assume accountability for their work.Essential Duties: Transport Engineer Spec II:Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.Learns specialized design and project development techniques.Performs advanced and specialized design work.Performs traffic engineering design work, analyzes traffic and accident data and recommends solutions for trafficPrepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.Reviews work done by others for drafting and calculation errors.Trains less experienced technicians.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transport Engineer Spec III:Learns specialized design and project development techniques.Performs advanced and specialized design work.Performs advanced and specialized drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphicpresentations that include distinctive design features.Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specificationsReviews work done by others for drafting and calculation errors.Trains less experienced technicians.Writes general notes, specifications and provisions.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transport Engineer Spec IV:Applies specialized design and project development techniques.Performs advanced and specialized design work.Performs advanced and specialized drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features.Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and building plans.Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.Trains less experienced technicians.Uses additional automated design tools or specialized design procedures in areas including bridge/culvert detailing,traffic management, geometric design, signal lighting design, retaining walls and building design.Uses automated programs, interactive graphics and the Design and Construction Information System.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
