Construction Engineer Specialist – Transportation Rail and Transit

Location: Oakland, CA

Overview:

Our Parsons Bay Area offices are now hiring for a Construction Engineer Specialist to support our Rail/Transit projects for BART in Oakland, CA . Join our expanding rail and transit team to support the design, construction, and maintenance of rail/transit systems that service over 400,000 commuters each day in Northern California. We have partnered with more than 400 transit agencies and have worked on EVERY major transit system in North America and many of the most renowned systems overseas! This is a hybrid remote working role ( meaning allowed to work from home 2 days per week), and will office at a BART location in downtown Oakland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Support: Respond to questions, review submittals, and provide necessary support for various project elements.

  • Problem Identification and Analysis: Assist in identifying problems, determining analytical techniques, and gathering necessary information and data for comprehensive analysis.

  • Recommendation Development: Analyze alternatives and provide recommendations regarding organizational structure, staffing, facilities, equipment, or procedure modifications under the direction of a manager.

  • Schedule Awareness: Maintain schedule awareness for projects that encompass design, construction, and all related activities.

  • Interdepartmental Interaction: Collaborate with other departments, transit or governmental agencies, vendors, and other stakeholders relevant to assigned projects.

  • Technical Documentation: Prepare technical reports, correspondence, and other written materials to document and communicate project progress and findings.

  • Weekly Reporting: Assist in preparing weekly reports that detail planned work, identify problem areas, propose potential solutions, and update schedule status.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field or equivalent experience

  • 3 years or more of experience in construction engineering, preferably in the transit or rail industry.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong data analysis skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with large transit agencies or government entities is desirable

  • Knowledge of any urban transit systems operations is a plus, but not required

  • Familiarity with project management software and tools.

Salary Range:

$61,200.00 - $107,100.00
