This is where YOU fit in: As the Human Resources Representative , you will provide HR expertise and support to the Navy Exchange and Nexcom Hospitality associates…no two days will look the same. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the local HR office, provide professional HR guidance and assistance to managers and associates, and make a positive daily impact to the mission of serving the best customer – our activity duty and retired military, dependents and civilian patrons. So, what might a “typical” day look like? Performs a variety of HR administrative duties, including recruiting, processing personnel actions, new hire orientation, benefits enrollment, compliance training, non-exempt performance review processing, preparing and distributing routine and specialized reports Performs HR duties in connection with recruiting applicants for hourly positions · Assists management with posting requisitions for vacant positions, manages on-line applicant system and prepares vacancy announcements, including internal and external advertisement sources · Screens applications received and reviews personnel jackets to determine eligibility of internal applicants based on minimum qualification requirements. Conducts new hire orientation; including reviewing job specific information, basic personnel policies and associate benefits Assists managers and associates with general HR questions and concerns Facilitates exit process for separated associates Use of PeopleSoft (PS) HR database and Taleo (recruitment platform) systems The Qualifiers: o Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform job duties, including recruiting, training, data administration, and reporting. 1 year of specialized experience performing the following: Knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures, and program requirements of one or more areas of personnel disciplines (i.e. Staffing benefits, compensation, etc.) o Knowledge of computer and management systems. o Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1 year specialized experience which required the applicant to acquire the ability to apply knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures, and program requirements of one or more areas of personnel disciplines i.e. Staffing, benefits, compensation, etc. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Study completed in a college, university, junior college, above the high school level may be substituted on a basic of one-half an academic year of study for six months of experience. A business or technical school, or other comparable institutions above the high school level, may be substituted provided such subjects as business English, office automation, business mathematics, bookkeeping or accounting were studied. No credit will be allowed for training which has been obtained only or primarily basic skills of typing or refresher courses. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the first year of specialized experience, study successfully completed in a college, university, junior college, above the high school level may be substituted at the rate of one-half an academic year of study for six months of specialized experience provided the study included a minimum of six semester hours, or the equivalent, per year in subjects closely related to the personnel field. Such subjects include statistics, psychology, sociology, or other social sciences, English composition, journalism, or other courses where primarily emphasis is on writing skills, public administration, personnel administration, industrial relations or similar courses dealing directly with subjects in the personnel field, organization management, and management analysis.
