Northern Manufacturing CNC Supervisor in Oak Harbor, Ohio

Description

We are a worldwide leader in stainless steel fabrication. Our CNC Supervisor leads our CNC operations including material inventory, laser, press brake, breakout, material handling, and kitting, working collaboratively with all areas of production. With a focus on leadership, management, and accountability, this position plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the CNC department.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and growth of direct reports and their teams. Maintain employee morale and encourage a positive "team" mentality. Oversee 15-20 employees. 
  • Establish a workflow to maximize efficiency and prioritize and adjust workflow to meet project schedules and customer deliveries. Document processes and procedures to ensure consistency and maintain quality expectations.
  • Identify bottlenecks and drive productivity by optimizing production plans and ensuring the priority list is being used and followed by all.
  • Quickly resolve lagging parts caused by material issues, rework, or lost parts to keep the production process running smoothly.
  • Ensure the weld buffer is filled so that production is never held up.
  • Communicate with the Production Manager and other relevant departments regarding project issues or concerns, and work collaboratively to find solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement through the use of Six Sigma, 5S, and lean process improvement methodologies, and mentor employees within the department.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety in the department and across the shop, and ensure employees are maintaining a clean and safe work center.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly manages the leads and employees within the CNC department. Participates in the hiring, training, development, evaluation, and performance management of assigned staff.

 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Ability to lift 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Requirements
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience, preferably working within a CNC department
  • Proven track record of leadership and supervisory experience
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing  work environment
  • Strong problem solving, decision making, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience reading blueprints, geometric dimensioning, tolerances, and CNC programming preferred
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principals is preferred
