We are currently seeking a Mine Engineer to join our Technical Services Team at ourTwentymile Mine location.The annual salary for this position is between $91,000 and $110,000 depending on experience.

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager. The scope of your role will be to complete short, medium, and long term mine planning activities; Prepare daily, mid-month, and month-end reporting; and to provide project management and oversite for projects of varying nature depending on the needs of the mine.This role offers a great opportunity for growth and to expand knowledge and skills.

Twentymile mine is an underground coal mine located in Colorado's scenic Yampa Valley about 20 miles outside Steamboat Springs, a ski resort and vacation destination. The surrounding area has towns both large and small including Oak Creek, Craig, Hayden, and Steamboat Springs. Hunting and fishing are very popular in this area. Shotgun and archery hunting is allowed on Peabody property for employees with proper authorization.

Peabody Twentymile has a safety-first culture and has been recognized two years in a row by the National Mining Association as the safest underground coal mine in the United Sates. The award recognizes coal and mineral mining operations with the lowest MSHA reportable injury rate. In 2023, Twentymile completed three years without a single reportable injury.

Duties will include: Visibly support and champion Peabody's Missions and Values Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System Short, medium, and long term mine planning activities. This will include the input and verification of records for daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly production, quality and various other regulatory agency reporting requirements. Development and maintenance of the mine timing model used to prepare short-term and long-term mining plans. Conduct mine survey activities as needed for the determination of coal production and stockpile volume calculation. Must be able to gain the FAA Certification for unmanned aircraft flight (drone) Prepare the mid-month and month-end production reporting documents including the survey calculations, production report, wash-plant report, LMS unit property report, and update various statistic and allocation reports used in the month end reporting process. Examine mining and mine support methods/equipment to improve performance. Gain familiarity with and provide input on the operations and design of the underground and surface mine services including ventilation, conveyance, water supply system, dewatering system, compressed air system, nitrogen generation system, and the mine rock dusting system. Provide project management and oversite for projects of various nature depending on the needs of the mine. This will include the development of a scope of work, assisting supply chain with the bidding and contractor selection, and project/contractor supervision through commissioning. Assist the environmental department with activities as needed including the inspection of the various impoundments, measuring devices on streams, water pool volumes, water use and with reclamation and inspection activities as needed. Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements. Familiarize yourself with mine processes through projects and working on various crews as needed to become comfortable with and fully understand the mine methods and operations. About you: Degree in Engine ring from an accredited engineering program or at least 5 years of practical engineering related work experience. PE Certification or ability to obtain a PE Certification 2 years relevant professional experience required.

Physical requirements: Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hours. Must be able to use a computer and communicate effectively in various forms, including email and by phone. Must have the ability to review paper and electronic documents and complete computer entry of data from paper documents. Must be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets and discuss issues by telephone and in person. Must be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc. Must be able to perform general laborer activities that are associated with an underground mine. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Walk long distances on uneven surfaces (escapeway and ventilation survey requirements) Ability to operate or familiarity with equipment operation (at a minimum the ability to operate a diesel truck with a standard transmission on steep grades) NOTE: This is a "safety sensitive role".
