Here's how you can help. We are currently looking for an Assistant Editor to join our team and rise to the challenge of empowering service.

 

Position Highlights:

The Assistant Editor plays a key role in developing content for and supporting the production of Lions International print and digital publications, including but not limited to LION Magazine and the Lions Blog. Responsibilities include researching, writing, editing and proofreading stories and other content. Key responsibilities also include project management support, working with freelance writers and photographers, collaborating with internal subject matter experts and tacticians, searching for imagery and artwork, and responding to email and telephone inquiries.

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to the development of print and digital content strategies.

  • Lead the process for publishing digital content and blogs, which includes preparing and organizing files and collaborating with interdepartmental teams.

  • Create and maintain a database of story leads.

  • Work with freelance writers and photographers to secure content for our publications.

  • Play a lead role in maintaining the International News Exchange to supply LION Magazine international editors with content throughout the year.

  • Help support LION Magazine international editors, which includes fielding inquiries and coordinating the new editor onboarding process.

  • Compile analytics that help us assess the performance of our digital content and promotional efforts.

  • Support the development and execution of promotional plans to increase engagement with magazine and other content.

  • Develop and maintain a story archive for print and digital magazine and blog content.

  • Manage the LION Magazine email and telephone inboxes and respond to inquiries in a

professional and timely manner.

We’re Looking for Someone With:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or related field, or the equivalent combination of education  and experience.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience working in a professional communications position.

  • Experience in the field of journalism such as news reporting, magazine work or freelance writing.
