The Alaka’ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Safety Specialist to support our government customer out of O'ahu, Hawai'i.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and maintain all facility First Aid Kit, AED and Oxygen tanks and evacuation maps.
Assists in providing OSHA, HAZMAT, HAZWASTE, and other related EHS training to employees.
Assist in collecting shipping and coordinate samples for analysis. Monitor and document results. Note: If employee is required to certify and ship Hazmat Material, it is understood that he/she will be upgraded to an SA-4 Hazmat Certifier/Shipper. Employee must have the necessary Certificate to be upgraded.
Assists in HW operations, preparing proper documents and shipment of hazardous waste from “cradle to grave”.
Maintains administrative files.
Documents and maintains EHS data, logs and records.
Prepares reports IAW State and federal laws, ITT policies and procedures.
Audits facilities and operations IAW OSHA guidelines and monitors follow up for deficiencies.
Researches and furnishes MSDS to tenants, government and employees as required.
Provides personal protective equipment and/or researches and procures for additional equipment as needed.
Member of the Spill Response Team.
Assist with the maintenance and identification of environmental aspects, impacts, and action plans.
Support Environmental Planning, Programming and Budgeting.
Support Environmental Education and Awareness. Document attendance.
Support Safety Manager with permits and permitting requirements and potentially applicable federal, state, and local requirements as necessary to ensure compliance conditions are met, for both current mission operations and projected missions.
Assist in managing inventory receipt
Support the maintenance of the Hazardous Waste Management Plan (HWMP) including Site Waste Stream Process Descriptors, Initial Accumulation Points (IAP) locations, Appointment of IAP Managers and Waste Profile Information.
Maintain HW related records in the approved environmental reporting system.
Support the maintenance of the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Program.
Support the maintenance of the Asbestos Operations and Management Plan.
Support the maintenance of the Integrated Cultural Resources Management Plan (ICRMP).
Prepare coordination documents for Installation Commander’s signature.
Maintain records of communications, meeting minutes and tribal contacts.
Provide copies of all federal, state, and local environmental correspondence received to COR.
Coordinate all outgoing correspondence to federal, state and local officials with the Installation Commander. Provide copies of correspondence received to COR within four days of receipt.
Performs other duties as required.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
High School or equivalent
A.S.Degree or equivalent through fundamental certificates in the Environmental, Health and Safety field.
Job related experience may be substituted for education.
Certificates-40-Hour Hazmat Technician or 40-Hour HAZWOPER.
Certificates-OSHA 30 Hour General Industry and OSHA 30 Hour Construction Industry is preferred.
Valid state driver’s license.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least one (1) year experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety field.
Must be capable of operating a forklift.
Must have basic typing skills and possess the ability to prepare typewritten documents.
Must possess the following PC skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Pont, Access
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
