Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints and specifications: This involves understanding the design details, dimensions, tolerances, and materials of the parts to be machined.

• Programming toolpaths in Mastercam: Using Mastercam software, they create the program that instructs the CNC machine on the sequence of steps to follow, including the cutting tools to use, speeds, feeds, and depths of cut.

• Setting up and optimizing machining processes: This involves selecting the appropriate cutting tools, determining the most efficient machining sequence, and calculating speeds and feeds to ensure optimal production time and part quality.

• Testing and troubleshooting CNC programs: Once a program is created, they run simulations or test cuts to identify and fix any errors before running the actual production job.

• Maintaining and updating CNC programs: As needed, they modify existing programs to accommodate changes in designs, materials, or machine capabilities.

• Collaborating with engineers, machinists, and other manufacturing personnel: They work closely with the engineering team to ensure the program accurately reflects the design intent. They also communicate with machinists to address any issues that arise during production.
