Pay: $18/hr - $20/hr

Company Overview:

A leading laboratory testing organization is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician to support our team in Novi, MI. If you have a passion for scientific work and a background in chemistry or a related field, we encourage you to apply.

Job Description:

As a Lab Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of our lab's operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work.

  • Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for sample preparation and testing.

  • Performing sample preparation and basic testing procedures.

  • Identifying non-routine samples and seeking guidance on handling procedures.

  • Meeting quality and turnaround time (TAT) specifications as required by clients.

  • Notifying the supervisor of any procedural non-conformances.

  • Using proper lab techniques to prevent sample mislabeling, mix-ups, or cross-contamination.

  • Providing general lab support and updates on workstation status to the supervisor/manager.

  • Adhering to the Code of Ethics, Quality System, and Health & Safety program.

  • Participating in department and health and safety meetings, and internal and external audits.

  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace.

  • Keeping training records and relevant qualifications up to date.

Qualifications:

  • Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related science field.

  • Some applicable analytical experience.

  • Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to follow established safety protocols and analysis procedures.

  • Comfort working with concentrated acids and using personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Willingness to work overtime, including evenings and weekends.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Willingness to cross-train in other lab departments as needed.

  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.

  • Preferred, but not required:

  • Experience with analytical balances, pipettes, chemical exhaust hoods, and lab ovens/furnaces.
