JOB SUMMARY
Provides technical leadership on specialized and new power system topics within the electric utility industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as a technical subject matter expert to Senior Leadership, the Board of Directors, and others for various technical areas, initiatives and projects including electric and magnetic field effects, electromagnetic pulse (EMP), radio noise/interference, inductive coordination, audible noise, and power quality.
Leads engineering analysis and implementation of cross-functional efforts related to conformance with developing technical efforts in the electric utility industry.
Researches and helps lead teams evaluating new technologies that can improve safety, efficiency, performance, and operations of high-voltage electric transmission assets.
Supports research internally and with national laboratories and technical organizations.
Represents ITC at industry committees regarding various technical subject matters.
Participates in industry forums and stays current on present and future technical standards as required.
Trains, mentors, develops, and supervises technical and non-technical personnel in various settings.
Attends meetings and training sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills.
Develops training to increase professional knowledge for engineering and other internal organizations
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
Senior : Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as an engineer, seven (7) years preferred.
Principal : Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience as an engineer, ten (10) yrs. preferred.
Knowledge and experience working with regulations, codes, and standards (NERC, IEEE, IEC, CFR, NESC), design, construction and/or maintenance functions.
Technical understanding of electric and magnetic fields and their effects.
Innovative, curious, detail-oriented
A good listener and effective communicator
Experience representing an electric utility in technical utility industry forums
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
Interested to learn and use various hardware and software tools to measure and resolve various issues.
Sound analytical problem-solving and documentation skills.
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with superiors and individuals internally and externally.
Effectively work collaboratively, with minimal supervision, able to productively multi-task.

Other desired skills and abilities:
Proficient in theoretical and engineering mathematical techniques
Able to create and/or utilize advanced new tools, software, or programs
Existing relationships with other experts in the field
Technical experience working with and understanding EMP, radio noise interference, electric and magnetic fields and their effects, inductive coordination, power quality, audible noise, large data sets, electromagnetic coordination, and stray voltage.
