Job Description Summary

The EHS Specialist at Unison in Norwich, NY, is a critical role focused on ensuring the highest standards of environmental health and safety within the facility. This position is integral to maintaining GE Aerospace's commitment to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC), with a paramount emphasis on safety. The EHS Specialist will develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with all relevant environmental and occupational health and safety regulations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Directs the implementation of occupational safety, health, and environmental programs with a high level of expertise. These standards include Confined Space, Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, NFPA 70E/electrical safety, Industrial Hygiene and Machine Guarding, etc.

  • Performs safety risk analysis and evaluates effectiveness of defenses to mitigate employee injury.

  • Skilled in the development and delivery of EHS training programs to a variety of audiences (managers and trades personnel) and can manage documentation accordingly.

  • Leads investigations, develops true root cause, implements corrective actions, and tracks actions to closure for all EHS related events.

  • Can effectively interpret EHS performance data to develop continuous improvement strategies.

  • Inspects facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards.

  • Maintains all relevant health and safety documentation including but not limited to, OSHA General Industry safety, environmental programs, all associated documentation including forms and trainings.

  • Compiles, generates, and files annual regulatory reporting as assigned.

  • Works directly with site coaches, managers, and frontline employees to develop strong working relationships.

  • Drives safety culture at the site, partnering with all teams to ensure all are accountable to ownership of the safety culture and performance of the company. Responsible to advance culture in an effective manner.

  • Assists the department with tracking site IH standards including the maintenance of accurate reports and records as well as employee exposures and testing.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety).

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety.

The base pay range for this position is $80,600 - $100,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 8/30/2024.
