Norwalk based non-profit supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities seeks Job Coaches/Employment Specialists. Mature adults experienced in retail, sales, food service, etc., looking for second career welcome to apply. Agency provides training.

Primary responsibility includes training individuals on the job, providing supports and follow-along services.

Duties include:

• Provide instruction to individuals hired into jobs by developing and implementing a training plan (i.e. provide travel training, conduct job analysis, provide systematic instruction, utilize natural supports). Access adaptive jigs as needed to promote independence.
• Plan an organized and well thought out schedule each day to meet the needs of assigned participants and the departments (i.e. minimize unnecessary driving; visit participants at appropriate times at jobs; utilize time effectively; work cooperatively with team members).
• Provide follow-up job supports upon completion of initial training (i.e. advocate for upward and lateral mobility; assist with benefits coordination; assist with work related issues such as clothing, grooming, cashing pay check; provide retraining as needed; assist with job separations).
• Maintain all written documentation necessary to meet agency standards and funding guidelines (i.e. progress notes, data, intervention sheets, safety forms, assessments, and profiles).
• Assist in the development of individualized activities such as volunteer positions, recreation/leisure pursuits, and educational experiences. Provide support to individuals in securing and maintaining activities when searching for a job while in part time employment or if unemployed.
