Aston Carter Accounts Payable Clerk in Northbrook, Illinois

Job Title: Accounts Payable ClerkJob Description

As an Accounts Payable Clerk, you will be responsible for processing incoming invoices and performing routine accounting tasks as needed. Key responsibilities include reviewing invoices and check requests for appropriate documentation and approval, processing high-volume 3-way match invoices, prioritizing invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms, responding to vendor inquiries, reconciling vendor statements, and correcting discrepancies. You will also maintain files and documentation accurately, assist in month-end closing, and provide back-up support for other administrative functions. The role involves entering invoices timely and accurately, preparing required reports, processing mail, scanning documents, and maintaining department files. Effective communication with the AP team, AP lead, and AP supervisor is essential.

Hard Skills

  • AP/Accounts Payable

  • SAP (highly preferred)

  • Processing 30-50 invoices daily

  • Tech savvy (Outlook and Excel)

Soft Skills

  • Comfortable working remote and getting work done

  • Invested in the job, proving yourself, and earning a long-term role

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Northbrook, Illinois and some days remote.

Work Environment

In office 3 days/remote 2 days per week (could vary depending on availability of office space, but never more than 3 days in office). Large corporate office with 9 people on the team. Business casual attire. Hours are 8-5, Monday to Friday. Training will be 4 days in office for the first 4-6 weeks, or until you are ready.
