Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Controller in NORTH TONAWANDA, New York, 14120, United States, to be a part of our team. As an Assistant Controller, you will play a crucial role in financial reporting, maintaining accounting operations, ensuring internal controls and compliance, and fostering team collaboration and leadership.
Responsibilities
• Carry out financial analysis by scrutinizing financial data and pinpointing trends, discrepancies, and areas that can be enhanced.
• Support the Senior Controller in the strategic planning and budgeting activities, providing valuable input and insights.
• Oversee the general ledger functions along with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, guaranteeing their accuracy and promptness.
• Assist in maintaining and enhancing internal controls to protect the company's assets.
• Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal financial rules and reporting requirements.
• Aid in audits and liaise with external auditors as necessary.
• Collaborate with other departments to optimize financial processes and decision-making.
• Support the month-end and year-end closing processes and detailed reporting templates.
• Ensure proper reconciliation of accounts and maintenance of precise financial records. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounting Functions, with a deep understanding of financial statements, ledgers, and reporting systems.
• Demonstrated experience in Auditing, including knowledge of audit principles and practices.
• Capable of managing Month End Close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of Internal Control processes, with the ability to design, implement, and monitor control systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA or similar certification is highly desirable.
• Minimum of five years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a leadership position.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel, and familiarity with accounting software.
• Highly organized, with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
