Amazon Senior Program Manager, University Partnerships and Outreach in North Reading, Massachusetts

Amazon FTR is seeking an experienced Sr. Program Manager to join our university partnerships and outreach team. In this role, you will contribute to scoping and visioning university engagements, develop strategic partnerships, build and manage relationships, and own the planning, execution, and delivery of a subset of our programs primarily focused on diversity, inclusion, and workforce development. You will also plan events and create content to engage Amazon’s internal science community. The projects you lead and support will help to shape academic partnerships, establish university talent pipelines, promote Amazon’s world-class FTR brand, and help to keep Amazon scientists connected to academic research in robotics. You will focus on the larger business picture to drive the right outcomes for our partners while measuring the effectiveness of our engagements. At the same time, you will be responsible for all the day-to-day tasks of the programs you own.

This role requires excellent program/project management skills and strong verbal and written communication skills. We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly organized self-starter with a bias for action and the ability to engage cross-functional stakeholders. Program management experience in a university setting – especially around recruiting, STEM outreach, research administration, or corporate giving, plus experience transforming technical information into engaging content is highly desired. Outstanding business acumen and judgment, and bias toward data-driven decision making are also desired. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. Above all, the successful candidate will have a passion for contributing to both team and customer successes.

A day in the life

On a typical day, in this position, you will work with several stakeholders which includes university leaders and faculty at our partner institutions, as well as with Amazon FTR’s science and engineering teams and our campus recruiting, marketing, PR, legal and other relevant teams. You will own your projects end-to-end, which includes all tasks to get to the deliverables, while sharing your progress and outcomes through periodic written reports and other communication channels.

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Graduate degree or equivalent technology industry work experience

  • Experience managing programs/projects in research, higher education, STEM, or related fields

  • Ability to work with engineering community across the organization

  • Ability to communicate to diverse audiences

  • 3+ years of work experience working with university partners

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience

  • Experience in working with STEM partners and/or being trained in STEM is desirable

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences

  • Experience in research administration or corporate giving or university recruiting.

  • Experience in content development, with a demonstrated ability to communicate and influence people, teams, and organizations across a variety of media
