Opportunity Overview:

The Teradyne’s Integrated Systems Test (IST) Hardware Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, technically driven Senior Hardware Engineer to focus on the continuous development of our growing portfolio of hardware products and customers.

The successful candidate for this position will work with an experienced engineering team located around the world to support the sophisticated electronic hardware used by our customers to test integrated circuits. This position will form the bridge between our current customers and the development engineering team to manage all aspects needed to maintain and advance our existing platforms. While the position is principally expected to work on electronic hardware, the engineer will gain experience with all aspects of modern complex systems in a collaborative environment. These aspects include hardware, software, manufacturing, field service/support, thermal management, mechanical engineering, manufacturing and repair, automation, and other engineering disciplines.

All About You

  • Gain product knowledge of our existing and in-development test systems, understand how they operate across multiple functions (HW, SW, and Mechanical)

  • Be the primary HW engineering interface to sales, marketing, field engineers and customers for questions, escalations, debug efforts, new feature requests on these systems from global customers

  • Provide design review feedback to the development teams on new platforms based on existing system performance and lessons learned in the field

  • Design or redesign existing hardware elements to add new features and address issues

  • Define and perform hardware prototyping and characterization experiments

  • Execute product integration and verification test and debug in a hands-on manner.

  • Work collaboratively with other global teams

  • Flexible hours and travel will be required to support customers located in all time zones

  • Lead technical design teams

Basic Qualifications & Skills

Experience 10 - 15 years

Hardware Technical Skills

Qualified candidates will have exposure to the following:

  • digital hardware design (system buses, I2C, SPI, LVDS, JTAG, UART, mixed speed and signal circuit topologies)

  • lab debug and hardware verification

  • computer interfaces (UART, PCI Express, USB, DDR and the like)

  • Op-amps, transistors, AC and DC circuit analysis, power supplies, printed circuit board schematic and layout, general electrical engineering

  • the fundamentals of high-speed PCB design (routing rules, printed circuit boards stackup, impedance, differential signals, etc.)

  • soldering and lab prototyping

Tools

  • Printed Circuit Board design tools (Cadence preferred, OrCAD, Eagle, etc.)

  • Simulation tools (Cadence, LT Spice)

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)

  • JIRA, GIT

  • Lab Equipment: DMM, oscilloscope, function generator, protocol analyzers, compliance testing

  • Programming skills a plus: one or more of Python, C/C++, C# or other language

  • Excellent troubleshooting, debugging and problem-solving skills

  • Solid verbal, written and presentation skills

  • Adaptability and ability to learn new skills

  • Commitment to excellence, efficiency and product quality

Education

BS or MS equivalent in electrical or computer engineering or related field
