The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL), a University Affiliated Research Center, has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD and intelligence programs for over six decades. Our expertise is in space and airborne IR, VIS, UV, and RF sensors, small satellite technologies, test and calibration, cybersecurity, data visualization and assurance, and ground stations.
SDL is seeking a Mid-Level Technician for performing mechanical/electrical integration and test activities, hand soldering, visual inspection of assemblies, and interfacing with other disciplines (QA, machine shop, contamination control, etc.) to deliver spaceflight hardware on schedule. Occasional evening and weekend shifts are required when certain testing is required. There is some flexibility in scheduling.

Required Qualifications:
High School graduate, GED, or some higher education
Ability to see projects through from start to finish
Self-motivated, dependable, and detail oriented
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability to identify and work through problems that may arise
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to work with other team members for completion of required tasks
Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain a US Government security clearance
Experience troubleshooting mechanical assemblies
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform physical activities which require considerable use of arms, legs and moving entire body, such as climbing (i.e., to access large chambers), lifting (approximately 50 lbs.), balancing, walking, stopping and handling of materials
Must be able to spend substantial time standing
Ability to utilize visual acuity or reasonable accommodations and finger dexterity to work with small parts
Ability to utilize hearing or reasonable accommodation to diagnose audible machine issues (i.e., pitch change, valve closure, end mil break, etc.)
Desired Experience:
Applicable higher education or technical training
Assembly and test of small, intricate mechanical assemblies
Ability to support electrical integration and test activities as needed
Experience working in a cleanroom or with minimizing contamination during assembly
Experience with environmental testing including thermal vacuum chambers and vibration testing
