Summary Hexagon's Manufacturing Intelligence division is seeking an Assistant Production Manager for our North Kingstown, RI location. The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for the supervision of first line employees in accordance with safety, quality, and productivity standards. The Assistant Production Manager will be responsible for providing daily leadership to employees in the Machine Shop, executing the build schedule of critical components for the area and planning the work of the team to hit the goals necessary to achieve on time shipment and quality. Additional duties include managing training plans for current and future employees, setting performance goals, prioritizing work assignments, and maintaining a productive and motivated climate Job Responsibilities Responsible for the assessment of employees and structuring of annual individual and team goals within the department. Reports directly to the Production Operations Manager. Responsible for daily staffing assignments to balance and improve production flow and output. Reviews daily/weekly production schedules for the area of responsibility and schedules/plans work in the area to support the deadlines necessary for on time delivery. Responsible for the work output of the area, cleanliness, organization, etc. Works with manufacturing engineering to identify areas of improvement and drives changes to improve throughput, quality, and technology. Trains employees on processes and maintains training records for area. Resolve conflicts within the area. Implements performance improvement plans and provides constructive feedback to employees as necessary. Required to incorporate the ERP and MES systems as they relate to duties and responsibilities. Support and participate in continuous improvement activities and work to implement LEAN concepts in 5S program, Workstation Cells, POU storage and maximize production throughput. Maintains currency with respect to technical skills by attending training classes, administration courses, independent research, and seminars. Assumes additional related responsibilities and performs all other duties as assigned. Reports directly to Production Manager. Interacts with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Materials, and Planning departments. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required, College or continuing education preferred. Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven conflict management. Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines. Team player: supports teammates and colleagues. Strong organizational skills. Five years of related manufacturing leadership experience. Machine shop experience preferred. Effective communication skills. PC experience (MS Office, SAP).
