  Minimum Requirements:

  Internal Candidates Only

  New York State Teaching Assistant Certification or eligibility for same;

  Dates: July 10 (7-hr day for staff only)

  July 15-August 20 (RSS/CRSS Classes) No Classes on Friday 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/1 August 19-August 20 (Regents Exams)

  Desired Qualifications:

  Strong interpersonal skills;

  Strong organizational skills;

  Must be flexible, responsible, and dependable;

  Ability to work independently with students and with groups of students and staff;

  Daily attendance is expected.

  Position Summary/Responsibilities:

  Provides direct instruction to individual students or small groups of students under the general supervision of a certified teacher in support of the instructional plan;

  Assists pupils in the use of available instructional resources and in the development of instructional materials;

  Utilizes their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: academic subjects, language other than English, arts, and special subjects;

  Assists in related instructional work as required (including copying);

  Supervises computer lab and bus duty;

  May assist students with disabilities with their daily activities;

  Must be able to build relationships with students;

  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  Physical Requirements:

  The ability to walk at will based upon student needs and/or activities;

  The ability to alternate between standing or sitting at will based upon student needs and/or activities;

  The ability to stoop and/or kneel at will based upon student needs and/or activities.
