Supervisor: School Principal & Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction
Minimum Requirements:
New York State Elementary Teaching Certification (concentration/expertise in mathematics instruction preferred)
Tenured in elementary education or special education
Effective or Highly Effective as defined by the District Professional Performance Review
Demonstrated leadership in school and district mathematics improvement initiatives
Knowledge of and experience in successfully using best practices in sense-making, student-centered mathematics instruction.
Commitment to and belief in high mathematics achievement of all learners and commitment to ongoing professional development to meet the needs of all learners
Strong organizational, data analysis, and collaboration skills focused on student achievement
Experience leading professional development in best practices in mathematics instruction preferred

Position Summary/Responsibilities:
(Note: In schools with more than one MIT position, responsibilities may be shared as appropriate)
Provide Academic Intervention Services (AIS) and Response to Intervention (RtI) Services in Mathematics to students at the most intensive level of AIS directly through assessment, push-in or pull out services, participation in related student meetings as requested, and providing consultation to teachers at less intensive levels of math intervention as needed.
Support teachers in the implementation of the elementary mathematics program by:
delivering demonstration lessons to model best practices in teaching mathematics
facilitating team math planning sessions and math related school professional development
advising and supporting math related goals and actions in the school improvement plan
Serve as a resource for school(s) on research-based best practices in mathematics instruction and parental and home involvement to support student success in mathematics.
Work collaboratively with school and district staff, administration, and the elementary Math Intervention Teacher team to improve the elementary mathematics program.
