Job Title: Production Technician

Job Description

Essential functions include the efficient operation of the specialty chemicals plant. Candidates will be working with powdered chemicals used in the polymer making process, which are used in plastics in waste water treatment plants. The position is responsible for the safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operation of the chemicals' plants, including utilities, bulk storage, and warehouse. Candidates will operate plant machinery and equipment as necessary, perform repetitive tasks, and remain in a stationary position for an extended period.

Responsibilities

  • Operate plant machinery and equipment

  • Perform repetitive tasks and remain stationary for extended periods

  • Open and close valves, monitor instrumentation panels, and report gauge findings

  • Dump 10-kilo bags into containers

  • Utilize basic math skills and track/monitor plant data

  • Follow procedures, including emergency and safety protocols

  • Climb ladders and operate forklifts

  • Lift up to 50 lbs

  • Communicate with all levels of staff and management

  • Perform maintenance on equipment as needed

  • Troubleshoot minor maintenance defects

  • Stay current on operating procedures, emergency procedures, safety and policies

Work Environment

The clean room is air-conditioned, while the rest of the plant is not. The plant features metal grating platforms and a multi-level setup requiring physical fitness to navigate. Employees will be exposed to the elements when moving between buildings. The role involves working with various hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, exposure to dust, noise, fluctuating temperatures, and flammable/toxic materials. Shifts run for 8 hours and rotate every 2 weeks between 1st and 2nd shifts. A third shift may be added once fully staffed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
