Boys & Girls Club of the Crescent Region Teaching Artist (Meeting St at Brentwood Elementary) in North Charleston, South Carolina

Sign-on bonus will be given after Onboarding/New Hire Orientation is completed.

Classification: Part-time; Monday-Friday; 2:00pm-6:30pm; August-May Teaching Artists - hourly rate $20 Certified Teachers - hourly rate $25

General Function: Plan, implement, facilitate, and supervise activities and programs (with a focus on the Arts core program area). Promote the safety of members, quality of programs, care and upkeep of equipment, and appearance of the Club at all times.

Education/Experience: Listed on the SC Arts Commission Artist Registry College Degree in Youth Development or related field and 3-4 years of program delivery experience.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to deal effectively with staff and youth Experience integrating arts into academic and leadership/character building activities Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of youth development. BI-LINGUAL IN ENGLISH/SPANISH IS A PLUS Understand the Clubs' philosophy, vision, and goals Ability to establish and cultivate positive relationships with youth

Job Responsibilities: Demonstrate and promote Core Values Implement Arts Curriculum Plan and manage arts related programs that help youth prepare for the future and provide opportunities for artistic and creative exploration including: 1. Visual Arts (drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, etc) 2. Performing Arts (theatre, music, performance poetry, dance, storytelling, etc.) 3. Other Arts Areas: Digital, Media, Literary, Folk, etc. Provide guidance and role modeling to members Design colorful and informative displays and bulletin boards promoting program areas Assist in the execution of national projects and exhibits Mentor and inspire youth, adults, and volunteers in the creative process Keep records of participants, schedules, attendance, and program results Mandatory First Aid / CPR Other duties as assigned

Physical and Mental Requirements: Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities while at all times displaying tact, maturity, and flexibility. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, standing for up to four hours a day, and the ability to implement programs. Skills essential for success include speaking and writing. Environment and Working Conditions: After school/Recreational settings that include being in/outdoors. Occasional weekend work to support the organization's fundraising events, and activities.
