Job Summary

Arc3 Gases is looking for a qualified individual to fill our Service/Runner/Delivery Representative position at Detyens Shipyards, which is located in Charleston, South Carolina. The primary function of the Shipyard Representative is to support the shipyard’s welding supply activity by effectively providing excellent customer support and service to shipyard employees and customers. The work schedule will take place Monday through Thursday 7am to 4:30pm, Fridays 7am to 3:30pm, and Saturdays 7am to 11am.

Responsibilities

  • Sell and deliver industrial gases along with welding supplies and related equipment to walk-in customers, and deliver to various points in the shipyard. 

  • Provide excellent customer service in a timely manner by answering phone calls, handling customer complaints, providing all necessary paperwork in relation to purchases and retrieving stock.  

  • Pull and take orders as well as repair, track, and catalog items.

  • Possess strong welding product knowledge and self-management skills to deliver superior customer service. 

  • Act with integrity and a sense of urgency, be reliable and persistent, and build strong, long-term customer relationships. 

  • Safely handle compressed gas cylinders and fill liquid gas cylinders.

  • Drive a forklift and/or Utility Vehicle (UTV) to deliver cylinders, welding supplies, and other products to onsite customers.   

  • Receive and account for incoming stock; properly put stock up in warehouse; assist with daily inventory counts.  

  • Provide support to other team members by preparing orders, assisting with billing, and ordering supplies as needed. 

  • Always maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.

  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by Arc3 Gases.

    Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Must be able to work in the United States.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Mechanical skills required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Must have a valid license with clean driving record.

  • Must be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

    Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Must work outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions. 

  • Stand and walk for eight-hour periods.

  • Bend at the waist and knees frequently.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75lbs of merchandise as needed.

  • Must have the ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Grip cylinder handles and caps continuously.

  • Use feet to push cylinders into interlocking position and to help move cylinders as they are rolled continuously.

  • Able to twist cylinder caps continuously.
