Antenna Research Associates Sr. Mechanical Engineer in North Billerica, Massachusetts

We are looking for a Sr Mechanical Engineer who can design new antenna products, positioners and accessories. They will prepare engineering drawings for construction of prototypes, assemble prototypes and test mechanically. The Sr ME will mentor and support less experienced engineers and lead product development teams of multiple disciplines. They will support proposal through technical design using FEA software and past work experience. They will create test requirements, ATP, manuals and support the manufacture of production antennas and positioners. Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and necessity of modification. Use SolidWorks and FEA simulations to realize design concepts. Understand and communicate risk of design elements during development. Lead engineering groups consisting of multiple disciplines during design efforts. Run design reviews & assess design feasibility. Lead R&D efforts working with cutting edge manufacturing techniques. Improve documentation of current products and processes to incorporate lessons learned. Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that products are installed and functioning according to specifications. Write performance requirements for product development or engineering projects based upon customer specifications. Understand how to apply MIL-STD specifications to designs and testing processes. Design test control apparatus and equipment and develop procedures for testing products. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. Experience and Skills In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. 7+ years of experience. Strong SolidWorks experience required with ASME-Y14 drawing exposure. Strong analytic skills in structure and thermals (FEA & CFD) required; tools used: SolidWorks Sim and Flow PCB design experience and or electronic packaging preferred. Product Data Management (PDM) experience preferred Knowledge of mechanical design and construction of microwave antennas, mounts, and accessories. Strong background in manufacturing methods including knowledge of additive manufacturing. Knowledge of motion controls, motors, servers, and other mechanical hardware used in positioners. Experience with positioners and controllers, a plus.
